The AFL played in Saint-Alban Aucamville (Haute-Garonne), Saturday evening, in the R1 championship.

It was a special evening that Avenir Foot Lozère experienced, this Saturday April 20, 2024. Having left for Saint-Alban Aucamville for the 18th day of Regional 1, they were unable to complete the meeting. Several incidents of play caused the match to be stopped in the 68th minute.

Three opposing players hit

In the 65th minute, Adande and the opposing goalkeeper collided on an AFL corner. The goalkeeper falls badly and hurts his collarbone. The match was then stopped for almost an hour while awaiting the intervention of the firefighters and the evacuation of the injured player. The match resumes with a field player in the Saint-Alban Aucamville goals. Then, in the 68th minute, two Saint-Alban players collided during an aerial duel, resulting in the injury of both players. The referee then decides to stop the match.

This decision may raise questions from a regulation point of view, given that the opposing team still had 11 players. Still, the referee has made his decision and the AFL risks having to return to Saint-Alban to replay the match.

Lozerian domination

On a sporting level, the first 68 minutes resulted in real domination by the Lozériens except for the start. The locals had opened the score on a penalty, a quarter of an hour into the game. A goal which woke up the Lozériens who would then show a completely different face. And they were rewarded for their efforts just before half-time with a goal from Maurin (1-1, 38th).

The 2nd half was one-sided with several big situations for Maxime Teissier's men. Before the match was stopped, around twenty minutes from the end.

Coupe Occitanie

In addition, the club learned that its qualification for the semi-final of the Occitanie Cup had been validated on the green carpet. The AFL will face Clermontaise on Wednesday May 8, in Mende. The seniors will not be the only representatives of the club in the semi-final. The U16 group – U17 in fact won 2-1 on the field of Nîmes Olympique and will be there in the Occitanie U17 cup.
