After a very dull and boring 10th stage, Jasper Philipsen won in Saint-Amand-Montrond ahead of Biniam Girmay and Pascal Ackermann. No change in the general classification, Pogacar keeps his yellow jersey.
Frustrated until then, the Belgian Jasper Philipsen won his first victory in the Tour de France this year by winning in the sprint, during the 10th stage on Tuesday in Saint-Amand-Montrond.
The Slovenian Tadej Pogacar retains the yellow jersey at the end of this day of no interest for the general classification, a long procession until the end of boredom. This is the seventh stage victory on the Grande Boucle for Philipsen who had outclassed the other sprinters in 2023, but remained silent since the start in Florence. "It’s a relief, last week was not a good week, it was endless. We can finally show our strength", declared the rider from Alpecin who was ahead of the Eritrean Biniam Girmay and the Eritrean Biniam Girmay with two bikes in advance. German Pascal Ackermann.
Philipsen thinks of the green jersey
The 26-year-old Belgian was perfectly led by his team and by world champion Mathieu van der Poel who propelled him to a victory which puts him back in the fight for the green jersey, still in possession of Biniam Girmay. "He is having a very strong Tour de France, he is still well in the lead. We will try to do our best" to catch up with him, underlined Philipsen who brought the green jersey back to Paris last year.
For the rest, the stage was very quiet, an ode to slowness, without any significant events. We were counting on the wind to liven up the day by favoring borders like those which had shattered the hopes of Alejandro Valverde on these same roads in 2013. But it did not blow hard enough to encourage the teams to try to trap their rivals.
