An unthinkable solitude. "I had the idea of ​​creating this association two years ago because, at the beginning, I felt really alone. Of course, we can meet people who are in the same trans identity on social networks but that does not replace real contact.

Delphine Martin was born in a man's body but was never in phase with this bodily envelope which did not correspond to her. "For me, it’ has been obvious since I was little. In my time, we didn't talk about it. I started by cross-dressing until I really came to terms with myself and came out.

A help and support space

At 38, she decided to take the plunge and began a transition process. A long journey of four years… At his side, Aurélien Roques experienced the same horrors. "Since I was little, I knew that there was something wrong but it was when I grew up and met my partner that I was able to put words to my discomfort.

The goal of Trans-Mission is to offer a space of help and support, without judgment, to people who are questioning or want to change their gender. "The goal is to come together and feel a little less alone, at first. But also to support and bring our experiences to people who are starting their journey".

Many pitfalls

Facing the professional environment

The obstacle course also often continues in the world of work. Delphine Martin thus lost her job (before finding another). "Basically, my boss told me: "I bought a blue sofa. Today, I find myself with a green sofa, I'm not going to redo the whole decor…" It was violent but I told myself it was better to leave.

Tailored listening and monitoring

The Trans-Mission association enjoyed a warm welcome in Béziers. "I wanted to meet the mayor, Robert Ménard, to explain our approach to him, says Delphine Martin, and he asked me a lot of questions. He even wanted to meet the psychiatrist who is following us at the Béziers hospital, while assuring us of his help and I thank him for that".

Trans-Mission has been holding office hours every Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment, at the Maison de la vie since March 16 Daniel-Cordier association (2 rue Jeanne-Jugan). Delphine supports trans women (men who want to become women), Aurélien supports trans men and Nathalie, a mother who follows her son (girl who wants to become a boy), is the parent representative.

They are there to answer questions or anxieties, refer you to professionals in the medical world (psychiatrists, surgeons), sort out legal procedures, etc.
