TRUE OR FALSE ? Bernard Arnault, Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos who is really the richest man in the world ?

Qui est vraiment le plus riche ? MAXPPP

The game of musical chairs never ends between the boss of LVMH, the founder of Amazon and that of Tesla in the ranking of the richest man in the world who are less than eight behind billion dollars difference…

We no longer know which ranking to trust ? Even for the ultra-rich, it's getting complicated. Who to believe ? We explain. Two days ago, the press was worried: “With his fortune estimated at 203 billion dollars, Bernard Arnault is no longer the richest man in the world”, headlined the daily newspaper La Montagne.

More soberly, BFMTV soberly regretted: “Bernard Arnault is no longer the richest man in the world”. According to the news channel “the boss of LVMH, whose share price has suffered a hit on the stock market, has given up his place as the richest person on the planet to Jeff Bezos”. But two days later, bang, we have to change our minds and admit that the Frenchman has taken the lead again.

Depending on stock market fluctuations

In reality, it's all the fault of the Bloomberg ranking, which regularly evaluates the ranking of the greatest fortunes. However, Bernard Arnault quickly passed Jeff Bezos and even Elon Musk, second in the ranking, with a fortune of 207 billion dollars thanks to a favorable exchange rate for the euro against the dollar. The pope of luxury, who has found his share at its strongest, is first by a short head (four billion dollars all the same) ahead of the boss of Tesla and eight billion more than the boss of Amazon ).

Followed by Mark Zuckerberg, boss of Facebook (166 billion dollars), Larry Page, founder of Google (153 billion dollars) and Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft (152 billion dollars). Apart from the boss of LVMH, in the world of consumer products, all the companies following in the top 10 are in the technology industry.

Quite a few French people in the top 50

But the crossover can quickly vary. Firstly because the differences are not that significant, at least from their point of view. And everything can happen quickly depending on the fluctuations of the New York stock exchange, which is all rain and shine in the ruthless world of finance.

So on Saturday, Le Figaro could trumpet: "Bernard Arnault once again becomes the richest man in the world". Since we are there, we might as well mention the other French people who appear in this ranking which is very largely occupied by Americans. In 15th position, we find heiress Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, boss of L’Oréal with 99.6  billion dollars.

Then, we have to slide to 25th and 26th places to find the Wertheimer brothers, Alain and Gérard, the bosses of Channel with 47 billion dollars each. And finally in 38th place in the Bloomberg ranking, Rodolphe Saadé, head of the maritime transport group CMA CGM, also head of the press and who should buy the Altice Media group (BFMTV and RMC in particular) this summer.
