TV nostalgia of Anthony Therrien: comedies from here and films pushed him towards the game
|DAY
Several years ago, Anthony Therrien was consuming so much television that his parents felt the need to intervene. This fascination with the small screen fueled a desire to perform in front of the cameras. So he hasn't forgotten those productions that fascinated him…
Anthony, which children's shows made an impression on you?
< p>There are several, but the main ones were Once Upon a Time in Trouble, A Grenade With That?, The Simpsons , Phineas and Ferb, SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar: The Last Airbender and In a Galaxy Near Home you.
In a galaxy near you
What are your fondest childhood TV memories?
Probably come home from school or day camp and sit on the couch with a big glass of cold Oasis juice and watch my favorite shows. I clearly remember having made the choice, on several occasions, to watch an episode that I had already seen simply because I liked it so much. There was also the excitement of the holiday season with the inevitable arrival on Télé-Québec of Ciné-cadeau.
Did you watch a lot of TV when you were very young?
A lot. Enough for it to become a serious discussion with my parents during my preteen years.
Was there a character that influenced you?
A character, not specifically. But I remember watching shows like Once upon a time in trouble with Pierre-François Legendre or In a galaxy near youwith Guy Jodoin, Stéphane Crête, Didier Lucien and Claude Legault, and said to myself: “Wow, I would so love to do that too on TV!”

Is there a character you would have liked to play for children?
Hard to say since the actors who played the characters were, for me, irreplaceable. But a character like Monsieur Pitre (Michel Laperrière in Une grenade avec ça?) must have been very pleasant for children to play.
Michel Laperrière in A grenade with that?
.
Which universe would you like children to discover?
I would like there to be modern adaptations for children of the books by J.R.R. Tolkien. The universes of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit shaped my imagination during my childhood and had a very big impact on the career choice I made.< /p>
What do you think of today's youth TV?
I don't really use it, but I see the projects pass through friends who are lucky enough to participate in them and it seems that there is a considerable lack of time and funds in youth… It's an issue that affects the vast majority of our industry, but young people seem to suffer even more than other genres […] It is important to prove to young people that we make good television in Quebec and that cannot happen produce only by having the means to match our ambitions. By means, I mean time, money and creative freedom.
