Two buildings in the condo of 12 apartments, each have been heavily damaged by a fire Saturday afternoon in Pointe-aux-Trembles, in Montreal’s east end.
The two buildings are located on the rue Eugénie-Tessier, in a residential area in the extreme east of the island of Montreal, north of the railway line along rue Notre-Dame.
The fire started around 14 and was not yet completely mastered at 16: 30.
“The damage is very important, it speaks about the strong possibly of total losses,” said the section head the Prevention and the Media of the Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal, Jean-François Larente.
One hundred firefighters were dispatched to the scene to fight the fire.
One of them was transported to the hospital as a precaution after having been bothered by the smoke or by the heat. Urgences-santé has assessed five other sappers on the spot.
Person on the side of the public were injured, while Emergency health has conducted three assessments of citizens. No transport to the hospital was necessary.
The cause of the fire was not known late in the afternoon, Saturday.
