MONTREAL | Two commercial buildings have been the target of a fire of criminal origin Monday very early in the areas of Ahuntsic and Saint-Michel, Montreal.
The first fire occurred around 1: 30 a.m. in a commercial building unoccupied and located on Fleury street, near the corner of Miller, in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
The fire was brought under control by firefighters who were found at the scene of the traces of accelerant and a can of gasoline, said a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The damage to the two-storey building are considerable, according to officer Jean-Pierre Brabant.
The second fire, which started around 2: years a commercial building of Jarry street, near the Pie-IX boulevard, in the borough of Villeray—Saint-Michel—Parc-Extension, was quickly contained by firefighters.
The flames caused minor damage to the building, he added.
According to information cross-referenced, three individuals were seen leaving the premises at the beginning of the fire, said Mr Brabant.
In both cases, the investigation has been transferred to the section of the arson of the SPVM.
The investigation will determine in particular if there was a link between the two fires.
There were no injuries and no evacuation has been necessary in the two events.
