Two MHSC players injured with the reserve team during the draw against Olympique de Marseille

For the opening of the National 3 championship, the MHSC reserve team conceded a draw (1-1) against that of OM, Saturday August 24.

Frédéric Garny's team can blame themselves. On a pitch that was a little dry in some places, the MHSC reserve team could not do better than a draw against the OM reserve team, in front of the first team staff members.

The youngsters of MHSC will regret their last quarter of an hour as they had controlled most of the match. MHSC cracked on the first opportunity for the opposition after Ales lost the ball and a Marseille move was perfectly concluded by Vaz (1-1, 74th).

Lack of energy, Montpellier could have lost this first match if the post had not repelled Kabamba's vicious free-kick strike (90 + 2).

Maamma and Issoufou injured

However, during the majority of the match, the Héraultais were enterprising. Strong possession, high pressure as soon as the ball was lost, MHSC tried to stifle Jean-Pierre Papin's team.

A plan that worked well given the difficulties of the Marseille reserve team in trying to build the game from the back and the number of ball losses caused.

The reaction of Frédéric Garny, coach of MHSC II

“We have regrets about what we proposed, about what we produced during the match. The boys were brave and the game plan was set up as we had hoped.

The downside, it remains the exits due to injury of Maamma and Issoufou. They are young boys who are with the professional squad and it is always annoying when they come down with us, that they leave due to injury.”

After 40 minutes of domination, Montpellier found the solution on a set piece. Peh Ngosso was alone in the area after a caviar from Cara and did not need to be asked twice to deceive the Marseille goalkeeper Vermot (1-0, 43rd).

Montpelliérains were guided by a very good Simon Cara, distributing several caviars to his teammates. The captain could have been rewarded if he had not come up against a good Vermot in goal twice (53rd, 60th).

The black spot of the evening will remain the exits due to injury of Issoufou (21st) and Maamma (59th).
