UK: Citizens affected by inflation eat animal food to survive
|MISE À DAY
The cost of living crisis is hitting hard in the UK, where some households need to consume animal feed to sustain themselves.
C' is what Mark Seed, a manager of a food bank in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, maintains.
“I was shocked to hear that, he explains to the BBC . These people try to warm their food with candles or heaters.”
The man believes that wages do not allow the poorest to meet their basic needs. “They work as many hours as they can,” he laments.
The Pantry project, led by Mark Seed, has enabled around 30 families to have quality food at low cost. The organization offers baskets for £5.
Elizabeth Williams, a user, says that although the project “has made a difference” on a daily basis, times remain difficult.
