Up to 680 new charging stations in Quebec

Ottawa has granted $4 million to Propulsion Québec to install 680 new Level 2 charging stations for electric vehicles in Quebec.

“Investments like the one announced [Thursday] in Quebec for the installation of charging stations will allow more Canadians to embark on the path to a carbon-neutral future and will help us achieve our climate objectives”, indicated by press release the Minister of Natural Resources, Jonathan Wilkinson.

Charging stations should be installed by March 31, 2024 in streets and public places, but also in building parking lots and workplaces.

The beneficiaries will be chosen by Propulsion Québec during a transparent process.

“By focusing on innovative projects such as the electrification of our transportation and by promoting the adoption of cleaner energy sources, we invest in the well-being of generat ions,” said Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change.

Nearly $1 billion has been invested by Ottawa since 2015 to make electric vehicles more affordable and charging stations charging more accessible.

Recall that Canada has the objective that all new passenger vehicles sold in Canada from 2035 be zero-emission vehicles.
