John Fetterman, a U.S. senator elected in November in a key midterm election battle after suffering a stroke, has been admitted to hospital with depression, his team said Thursday.  

The 2.05 meter bald colossus known for his inseparable hooded sweatshirt, the Democrat had just returned to his duties after a brief hospitalization due to brief dizziness.< /p>

“While John has gone through depressive phases throughout his life, it has become more acute in recent weeks,” his chief of staff said in a statement.

He has admitted to a state-of-the-art military hospital on the outskirts of the capital, Washington.

“After examining John, doctors at Walter Reed (hospital) informed us that he was receiving medical care. he needs, and he will soon be himself again,” the statement added.

John Fetterman’s victory in the key State of Pennsylvania (northeast) in November was emblematic for Joe Biden's party, ensuring it maintained a Democratic majority in the Senate.

John Fetterman faced Republican Mehmet Oz, long at the head of a popular medical show.

This campaign was marked by Mr. Fetterman's stroke in May 2022, which reduced his appearances in public.
