Usap-MHR: why the match is taking place in Béziers and not at the Aimé-Giral stadium in Perpignan ?

For the second day of Top 14, this Saturday, September 14, the MHR faces Perpignan (16h30), a match that will take place at the Raoul-Barrière stadium in Béziers while it should be played in Perpignan. Explanations.

We know the Catalan fury that is raging in the Aimé-Giral stadium, the lair of Perpignan. On Saturday, the Catalans will not play on their own pitch to face Montpellier but on that of the Raoul-Barrière stadium in Béziers.

Almost invincible on their own land, the Perpignanais will therefore have to go into exile for several weeks, due to the work that is making their pitch unplayable. Indeed, the club and the town hall have decided to redo the Aimé-Giral pitch and replace it with a more modern and more resistant hybrid pitch.

A month of work

A fairly heavy project started at the beginning of June and which will therefore require several weeks of work. Usap therefore had to find a fallback solution for its first “home” match of the season, hence the choice of Raoul-Barrière, which has the advantage of being halfway between the two cities.

If the work goes as planned, the Usapistes should find their favorite stadium, and a new pitch, for the reception of Clermont-Ferrand, on Saturday September 28.
