The vaccination of young people aged 5 to 11 is behind schedule in several neighborhoods of Montreal, especially in Montreal-North and in Saint-Léonard.

According to the most recent data, 25% of young people in this age group have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Saint-Léonard, and 35 % in Montreal-North. & nbsp;

By way of comparison, on the whole of the island of Montreal, this rate is 50%.

Since the end of the year 2021, children are more and more hospitalized due to COVID-19. Currently, at least 30 children are admitted to hospitals due to a coronavirus infection. & Nbsp;

Several experts find this situation worrying, especially since several outbreaks are taking place in childcare settings.

Some citizens interviewed by TVA Nouvelles said they were a little worried about this lack of vaccination coverage for children. & nbsp;

“I think it is also the responsibility of parents. 'be aware of that, but there are a lot of parents who are against vaccines, ”says a resident of Montreal-North. & nbsp;
