L’assemblée générale de l’association nationale des anciens du 23e RI organisée à Alès. Au programme ce dimanche, balade gourmande à Anduze, avec la visite de la Bambouseraie après un voyage avec le train à vapeur des Cévennes.

For their general meeting, the national association of veterans of the 23rd Infantry Regiment chose Alès.

This Saturday morning, before starting the meeting, the members of the association and the local flag bearers laid a wreath at the war memorial in Verdun Square.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Pierre Martin, municipal councilor in charge of veterans and Roger Bogdanski, Alès president of the National Union of Combatants (UNC).

The latter briefly retraced the history of the regiment, created in 1636 under the name of the Royal Regiment. During the Revolution, it took its definitive name, and included the 1st battalion of volunteers of Lozère. It took part in the Napoleonic campaigns, then in the two world wars and the Algerian war before being dissolved in 1976 after more than three centuries of good and loyal service.

After the discussions during the general assembly, Sunday will be devoted to visiting the Cévennes with lunch in Anduze and a walk with the TVC and a visit to the Bambouseraie.
