Le pongiste montpelliérain a remporté le WTT Contender en simple et en double, dimanche 9 juin.

French table tennis player Alexis Lebrun won his first singles title on the world circuit on Sunday during the WTT Contender in Zagreb, dominating the Japanese Shunsuke Togami, 19th player in the world, 4-1 in the final. This success in a fourth-tier tournament, the equivalent of an ATP 250 in tennis, allows the eldest Lebrun (20 years old) to score points in the race for the second ticket of the Olympic singles tournament that he played against Simon Gauzy.

The Olympic selection must be announced in less than two weeks, on June 21, and victories against members of the top-20 are put forward as the main criterion of choice by the French Federation (FFTT). First place is promised to his brother Félix, 5th player in the world: a table tennis player in the top-5 in the world has his selection assured according to the regulations of the FFTT.

Victory with Gauzy in doubles

Less than two hours earlier, Alexis Lebrun had won this same WTT Contender in doubles with Simon Gauzy, a good omen for the Olympic team event. The pair won 3-0 against Poles Jakub Dyjas and Samuel Kulczycki. Which offers the possibility of a duo other than two Lebruns for the doubles at the Games during the team event.
