The French team qualified this Monday July 1 for the quarter-finals of Euro-2024 against Belgium (1-0) thanks to an own goal from Jan Vertonghen scored at the end of the match in Düsseldorf.
Vertonghen countered in the 85th minute a strike from Randal Kolo Muani which thus delivered the Blues who had long been ineffective and still incapable of scoring the slightest goal in the game in this competition, except thanks to two " ;csc" and on a penalty.
"We had quite a few chances, but unfortunately we didn’not really get on target. We must savor, we must not trivialize, we are on shift and they are going home", commented Didier Deschamps hotly.
France will face Portugal or Slovenia in the next round, who face each other at 9:00 p.m. in Frankfurt.

Randal Kolo Muani returned on the hour mark to replace Marcus Thuram who, like the rest of the blue attack, was rather uninspired offensively.
Belgians also uninspired
Only his header (34th) at the near post, following a beautiful cross from Jules Koundé on the right side, came close to the amount of Koen Casteels, before Aurélien Tchouaméni does not offer two heavy strikes which did not find the target.
A third, at the start of the second period, was repelled by Casteels, while Kylian Mbappé, in one of his rare flashes on Monday, fired a shot that went a little too far – above the opposing goal (53rd).
Opposite, the Belgians were not much more inspired but had the best opportunities.
Maignan had to repel a free kick from Kevin de Bruyne (24th), a strike from Romelu Lukaku (70th) and another from De Bruyne (83rd), and Théo Hernandez. make a perfect tackle in front of Yannick Carrasco in his area (61st).
As in 2018, at the World Cup in Russia, the Belgians came out with the smallest gap against France.
