"Tanaland" est un pays imaginaire 100% féminin qui a été créé par les utilisatrices de TikTok pour détourner une insulte misogyne.

For several days now, references to an imaginary country called “Tanaland” have been circulating on social media. The movement was born in response to the increase in comments insulting women from “Tana”, a diminutive of “putana” which means prostitute in Spanish.

To counter these insults received mainly for their outfits, women decided to twist the insult and make it their own by creating a place forbidden to men. Relayed many times on TikTok, the country now has an anthem, a flag, a capital and nearly 18 million inhabitants. All united under the motto “liberty, equality, tenacity”.

To oppose this trend, men have themselves also decided to create their imaginary country “Charoland”, a place where there would be women at their disposal. A new act marked by sexism, engendered by a movement created with the aim of countering it.”
