Trailing by four points at the very end of the match, the French men's basketball team managed to snatch overtime and then win against Japan (94-90), Tuesday, July 30 during the second day of the Paris 2024 Olympics tournament.
And the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in Villeneuve d'Ascq exploded. In a very bad position with a four-point deficit against Japan, the French team managed to snatch overtime thanks to a magnificent play by its point guard Matthew Strazel.
The AS Monaco player actually managed to sink a rather impossible shot despite the Japanese defense, all behind the three-point line. With ? as a bonus, a Japanese foul on the shot, sending Strazel to the free throw line, with success.

A well-managed extension
All of this allowed Vincent Collet's men to ideally launch the first minutes of the extension to create a sufficient cushion to see it coming, despite a Japanese team that had not given up until bout.
A victory ensuring them qualification for the quarter-finals of the tournament of these Paris 2024 Olympic Games before being able to clinch first place in the group if they were to beat Germany on Friday evening (9 p.m.).
