The United Kingdom will supply hundreds of missiles to Kiev
The British Ministry of Defence has announced its first delivery of 650 “Light Modular Missile (LMM) systems”, to help Ukraine strengthen its air defences in the coming months. These missiles will be built by the French group Thales at its Belfast plant in Northern Ireland. This new delivery of missiles will be officially announced later today by Defence Secretary John Healey. Along with the United States, the United Kingdom has been one of Kiev's main military supporters since the start of the war in February 2022.
New Foreign Minister in Ukraine
Ukrainian lawmakers on Thursday approved the appointment of a new foreign minister and two new deputy prime ministers, as President Volodymyr Zelensky carries out his biggest cabinet reshuffle since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
Andrii Sybiha, 49, replaces Dmitry Kuleba as foreign minister. Zelensky said Ukraine needed “new energy” as he said this fall would mark an important milestone for Ukraine in the war. Olha Stefanichina is reappointed as deputy prime minister for European integration.
Zelensky demands tangible results from his new government
“It is crucial that government institutions now function as actively as possible – more actively than before – at all levels,” he stressed in his daily address. He instructed his new team to further develop the arms sector, advance EU accession negotiations, ensure Ukraine's financial stability and provide “increased support for the front line”.
Putin wants to conquer Donbass
Putin makes it his priority. “Liberation” ttotal Donbass, which includes the Lugansk and Donetsk regions, “is our number one priority”. Russian soldiers are still advancing in eastern Ukraine, despite the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region.
