Quadruple champion olympique de natation lors des JO de Paris 2024, Léon Marchand a avoué qu’il avait une autre passion dans la vie : le Rubik’s Cube.
It's not at the same level as swimming, but it's something. French star of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where he won four gold medals in the Paris La Défense Arena pool, Léon Marchand has another passion in life, the Rubik's Cube.
During an interview with Mouloud Achour on his show “Clique”, the Toulouse swimmer spoke about this hobby that came to him thanks to his father when he was just a child like any other.
“I always bring them in competition”
“My dad bought me one when I was a kid, he explains. I remember when I couldn't sleep, I would come and wake him up, we would play chess, we would talk about Rubik's Cube. He taught me a few things like that. He didn't know how to do it, but he wanted me to learn. I watched YouTube, actually, and I learned how to do it."
"I even did the French championships, I remember. All that to say that I was a bit adventurous anyway, he laughs. There were the French championships in Toulouse, I had been doing them for two months. I said to myself, okay, let's go. I was one of the worst at it."

While he confesses that he is no longer as strong as he was when he was a child, collecting the famous cubes on his shelf, Léon Marchand still admits to taking them with him. "I always bring them to competitions. It helps me de-stress a little too. Afterwards, I no longer have the same level as before, at the time, I managed to solve it in about 15 seconds”, he described.
