Since the beginning of September, Dominique Pelicot and 50 other people have been facing justice after rapes filmed by the husband of the victim, who was drugged, Gisèle Pelicot. While the trial has had unprecedented media coverage, some defense lawyers are causing controversy.

Her name is Nadia El Bouroumi, she is a lawyer in Avignon, and she is defending two men who are accused in the Mazan rape case. The latter has the particularity of commenting on the trial daily on social networks. But the comments made by the lawyer are controversial and have forced her to explain herself on BFMTV.

Wake me up before you go-go

It has been two and a half weeks since the trial of this extraordinary case began in Avignon. While the speeches of Gisèle and Dominique Pelicot were expected, on the other hand, the remarks of the defense lawyers were much less so.

Nadia El Bouroumi, lawyer for two defendants, comments on the trial days almost daily, as she leaves the court. She is strongly criticized by Internet users in comments, even creating a controversy.I'm coming out of the Pelicot trial, pffiiiiiiou ! The photos of Madame have been released, they are indeed in positions that posed a problem, since for a few days, she has been maintaining that she had never participated in anything…", she had notably mentioned.

On her Instagram account, there is a video of the latter dancing to music Wake me up before you go-go by Wham (which translates as "Wake me up before you go-go ) leave").

It should be noted that the lawyer is described as a "noisy figurehead of the defense" by the press.

The trial of chemical submission

Between 2013 and 2020, this pensioner above all suspicion, Dominique Pelicot, drugged his wife to offer her at night in their villa in Mazan, near Carpentras, to dozens of strangers who raped her, while her husband filmed and photographed.

The trial, which will also be that of the very underestimated practice of chemical submission, will last until December 20 before the criminal court of Vaucluse.

There will therefore be 50 of them, alongside Dominique Pelicot, to be judged for these aggravated rapes suffered by Gisèle between 2013 and 2020, and which have not all been elucidated. In total, 83 rape scenes involving 64 men were found in the computer archives of Dominique Pélicot's computers, hard drives and mobile phones, who kept everything, to better enjoy it alone, at home, later.

Eleven suspects could not be identified, two died before their arrest, one is on the run in Morocco. The other fifty, some of whom abused Gisèle several times, were all incarcerated, before some were placed under judicial supervision.
