Les premières images du village olympique à Tahiti affluent sur les réseaux sociaux. Les surfeurs ont été installés dans un navire de croisière. Une première dans l’histoire des Jeux.
There is the Olympic village of Saint-Denis, that of Lille… And that of Tahiti! The French archipelago will host the surfing events, with the legendary Teahupoo wave. And the Paris 2024 organization did not want to build a village specifically for the occasion.

The solution was therefore found: a boat. The mixed cargo ship 'Aranui 5', designed to transport passengers and goods, will accommodate surfers for the duration of the Games, off the coast of Papeete, and twenty minutes from Teahupoo Bay.

The cost of chartering the ship is estimated at 3.5 million euros, entirely the responsibility of French Polynesia. The surfing events will take place from July 27 to 30.
