The French finished eighth in the 4x400m relay final after falling in the last lap, notably because of the South Africans.

The Americans were crowned Olympic champions in the 4x400m relay on Saturday evening at the Stade de France in 2’ 54” 43, a new Olympic record.

On the French side, the relay of Kounta, Biron, Andant and Saidy finished in last place, 8th. And for good reason, the last French relay runner fell in the last lap, after a nice push from the South African competitor. A gesture not very fair play on the part of the runner.

Bostwana held on

The American team composed of Christopher Bailey, Vernon Norwood, Bryce Deadmon and the Olympic champion of the 400m hurdles Rai Benjamin narrowly beat the Botswana of Letsile Tebogo (2:54.53) and the United Kingdom of Matthew Hudson-Smith (2:55.83).
