This Tuesday, June 18, 2024, a tornado hit the town of Carlepont, in Oise, north of Paris. Several dozen homes were affected.

Impressive images. This Tuesday, at the end of the afternoon, a small town with just over 1,000 inhabitants was swept away by a small tornado, reports France 3. Although this meteorological phenomenon is generally visible in the United States, it is rare to see it a hundred kilometers from the capital.

"She destroyed everything around her"

The damage is numerous in this small village located less than 2 hours north of Paris. The inhabitants, still in shock, note the devastation that the meteorological phenomenon has caused in its wake. "I’I saw the sky darken suddenly, it’was very impressive", tells a local resident, to our colleagues from Parisien.

"I didn’not have time to close my shutters before she tore off my garden shed, even though it was sealed in concrete. She's 4 gardens away…", another whispers. Roof or furniture, nothing was spared by the whirlwind of wind which was very rapid in the Oise.

A father and son still seem surprised by the strength of the tornado. "I saw it form behind my house and it uprooted a tree 300 or 400 years old. She destroyed everything around her. She took away the fences. The sky was all black", he declares, while his child compares what just happened to a disaster movie. "You see the film, there, Twister ? It’was the same", he comments.

The images of the meteorological episode were widely relayed on social networks, as visible above.
