With 19 goals scored against Créteil, Chambéry player Benjamin Richert established a new record for goals in a single match in the French handball championship on Saturday evening, the League announced.

The 25-year-old right winger made 19 of his 25 shots and largely contributed to his team's victory against Créteil, which came down to the wire (40-39).

The old record was 17 goals

The previous record was 17 goals, co-held by Toulouse player Anouar Ayed in 2004 and Saint-Raphaël player Raphaël Caucheteux in 2017.
