Le brick néerlandais sera l'invité d'honneur du port de Frontignan, dès le 7 mars et jusqu'au début d'Escale à Sète.

There was a taste of Stopover in Sète this Saturday, March 2, not far from the singular island. Departing from her home port of Den Helder in the Netherlands, the centenarian Morgenster has set sail less than a month before the launch of the great festival of maritime traditions, where she is the ;#39;one of the expected sailboats. But first, it will be a stopover in Frontignan!

Expected in Frontignan this Thursday March 7

The majestic brig launched in 1919, and saved from oblivion by its benefactor-captain Harry Muter, first went for a stroll its two masts on the side of the Muscatière city, where it is expected this Thursday March 7 with great fanfare, with an arrival parade in which boaters are invited to participate (4 p.m.). It will be visible at the Robert Allary reception dock until March 18.

How was the Morgenster chosen to seal this first partnership between the Sète meeting dedicated to maritime heritage and the neighboring Frontignan region ? With its 46 meter hull, but above all its draft of 2.40 meters, "it'was the only one who could enter the port of Frontignan!" smiles Jean -Louis Molto.

A preview presentation

The deputy mayor in charge of the port and seaside areas went to meet the Morgenster this Saturday morning, offshore, in the company of the port director and president of the SNSM Jacques de Lalaubie. "It's a magnificent boat, which the entire microcosm of associations that revolve around our port is delighted to welcome. Boaters, fishermen, Languedoc rigging enthusiasts… all appreciate Escale à Sète. It’s a local event. We are therefore very honored to be able to serve as a teaser for the event, by bringing one of its sailboats as a preview", explains the elected official.

All precautions have been taken to ensure that the Morgenster arrives safely this Thursday. But this anticipated approach will also allow the ship's captain to go there in the coming days to study first-hand the maneuver to be carried out in order to enter and then exit the outer port.
