The attack, particularly violent, was not accompanied by any specific demands. But tensions have been observed in recent weeks within the school due to its dilapidation.

Very early this Tuesday morning, shortly after 7 a.m., a group of hooded individuals attacked the grounds of the Gustave Eiffeil high school, in Cachan (Val-de-Marne). Between 200 and 250 young people, according to different testimonies, converged on the entrance to the establishment, their faces masked, throwing molotov cocktails and setting fire to trash cans in different places.

Scenes of chaos ensued, with the police arriving very quickly on site, which led to violent clashes. Two police officers were injured during these clashes and two vehicles were damaged by stone throwing.

The problems of obsolescence have been denounced for several weeks

According to testimonies, it was a demonstration of high school students, mobilized to denounce the state of degradation of the establishment. A demonstration which would have degenerated into clashes with the police. Denunciations are not new, for several weeks voices have been raised to denounce the working conditions within the high school.

The gathering of high school students aimed, according to the police, to prevent access to the establishment for other students. Very quickly, they faced the security cordon of the police. A face-to-face which ended up degenerating. It would also seem that the high school students were joined by other individuals, from outside the establishment, who came "to break".

"Around fifty individuals mingled with the crowd"

"Apparently, around fifty individuals mingled with the crowd", explained&nbsp ;Axel Ronde, CFTC Police spokesperson, with BFMTV. During the clashes, the police used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators. Calm returned around 10:30 a.m. A demonstrator was arrested.

Owner of the high schools, the Ile de France Region announced that it was filing a complaint for damage. Hélène de Comarmond, mayor of Cachan, was sentenced "unacceptable violence". As for the academy, it specified that classes took place, except for students who were unable to access the school grounds.
