VIDEO. “We’re at Amnesia”: a look back at rapper JuL’s fiery show in Cap-d’Agde

The singer from Marseillais, with extremely rare appearances on stage, appeared in great form for an hour and a half at Amnesia, the Cap-d'Age nightclub which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

“We are indeed at Amnesia”. JuL definitely feels good in the nightclub of Cap d'Agde (Hérault). He repeated it more than once, on the night of Sunday to Monday, where he performed for the third consecutive summer, to the great delight of his many fans crowded at the foot of the podium where he sang for an hour and a half.

The reason? The special ties woven with André Boudou, the father of Laétiticia Hallyday, ex-father-in-law of Johnny, and owner of the legendary nightclub which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this summer.

Because the man who has become the absolute record holder for platinum disc sales in France, surpassing his idol Johnny, limits his appearances on stage as much as possible, his concerts are events. Especially in “small” form committee, knowing that the artist will fill the Vélodrome and the Stade de France in 2025.

The tickets were sold out in a few minutes and to better understand the JuL phenomenon, you just have to see the hysteria that takes hold of the fans, smartphones brandished in the air and singing by heart the simple and catchy rhymes, mixing slang and everyday life, when Julien Mari in the registry office, takes the microphone, cap on backwards, shorts and sports jersey.

It would be too simplistic to talk about rap, as the style of the Marseillais also comes from pop and trap music, more lyrical, with a drum machine, chanting, sometimes in bursts, the countless pieces that he has composed over a ten-year career.

He served his last album "Update" with the hits "Me don't take the head", to the heady disco rhythm, "Holà que tal ?" lit by all Amnesia's smartphones and broadcast on its social networks, and of course the inevitable "Tchikita" or "Peak and peak, alcohol and drama" thanking "the zone", i.e. his fans, without whom he wouldn't be here.
