Violent thunderstorms could hit this afternoon or this evening on several regions of Quebec, including Montreal, Lanaudière Basses-Laurentides, Estrie, Bois-Francs, Richelieu valley and the Beauce.
Environment Canada has issued watches and warnings of severe thunderstorms Wednesday
“The conditions are conducive to the formation of thunderstorms, dangerous and able to produce strong gusts, hail of large size and heavy rain,” said the federal agency on its web site.
“Boaters may be surprised by strong gusts on the water, said Environment Canada. Put yourself shelter immediately if a weather phenomenon threatening approach. Lightning kills and injures Canadians each year. Remember : when thunder roars, go indoors to the inside!”
Warnings of extreme heat are also maintained for the whole of the south-west of Quebec. This wave of heat which also affects the eastern Townships, the Quebec city region, the Beauce, and the regions just north of the St. Lawrence river to Lac-Saint-Jean will be present until Saturday.
