The director of SDIS 34 was on a trip to Aniane on Thursday. Medal presentations and the extension of the barracks were on the agenda.

General Controller Eric Florès was on a trip to the Aniane fire station for a company visit from Lodévois Coeur d'Hérault. A rare moment on the part of the director of SDIS 34, who was motivated by the taking of command by Lieutenant Olivier Arnaudin, who arrived… on July 14.

Taking advantage of his visit, a ceremony to award grades and medals of honor was organized. Eric Florès promoted six firefighters to the higher rank, and four were awarded a medal of honor from Internal Security, due to their commitment or service. The mayor, Philippe Salasc, was moved and kept it short: "I have great pride in this rescue center. Thank you to the firefighters and their command, thank you to them on behalf of the entire village. A much-anticipated rehabilitation-extension

The Comptroller General first congratulated and supported Olivier Arnaudin and his deputy Christophe Delmas, and paid them a warm tribute: “command is not something you learn, it is something you experience,” he said. Before telling us: “I chose the new head of the center, validated by the prefect, the president of the department and the mayor. The renewal creates a dynamic.”

He mentioned the future work of extending and rehabilitating the rescue center: “it is a major project, which will allow us to be closer and more efficient. It's a choice that other municipalities don't make, and I thank you for it, Mr. Mayor.”

With 54 firefighters, including 15 women, all volunteers, “we're starting to feel a bit cramped” emphasizes Eric Florès. Need for space with separate areas for female staff, an adapted gym (the current one is very small), more important obligations, the arrival of a new victim rescue vehicle (VSAV), nearly 800 interventions per year, this extension-rehabilitation is eagerly awaited.

The new ranks: Estelle Grossi, head nurse; Nicolas Reddaf, captain; Pierre Bronnec, master sergeant, Arnaud Cazilhac, corporal; Damien Gimenez, warrant officer, Christian Alsina, warrant officer and honored for his 42 years of service.
