Snail operation for Montpellier VTCs this Tuesday, May 7: fifty drivers left Grammont this morning at 8:30 a.m. The procession will make two stops, in front of the town hall and at Peyrou. A delegation will be received at 4 p.m. at the prefecture.
Leaving Grammont at 8:30 a.m., the VTCs (tourist vehicles with driver) headed this morning towards the town hall. Their route: the town hall for several tens of minutes, then boulevard d’Orient, avenue de la Liberté then a new parking lot at Peyrou.
The organizers have planned a longer circuit than during the previous snail operation, on January 15, when there were around a hundred. "Even if we are fewer in number, our action is much more impactful", says Rosa, a mobilized VTC driver.
"We're being ignored"
The Hérault prefecture will receive the Montpellier VTC Federation at 4 p.m. On the town hall side, "we are completely ignored while the idea is just to be received", laments Antoine, also a driver . "The town hall and the Metropolis are however largely concerned by our demands and decision-makers on the follow-up to be given", adds Rosa.
Among their requests, VTCs wish to obtain access to the city center and around train stations and the airport. They also demand greater flexibility from law enforcement. They seem exhausted by the comparison with taxis: "We are complementary, our customers do not have the same means", explains Rosa.
