Previously, French Prime Minister Michel Barnier had described the situation as“extremely serious” and affirmed “to be concerned about security” French nationals on site.
The ministry has not yet reported any calls for French nationals to leave the country.
Jean-Yves Le Drian, President Emmanuel Macron's special envoy to Lebanon, made a sixth visit there at the beginning of the week and met with all parties to try to convince them to finally elect a president.
He made no statement to the press.
