Ukraine hopes to get billions at reconstruction conference

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday he hoped to reach agreements worth billions of euros during the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine being held in Berlin.

"We will leave this conference with agreements covering billions of euros for our defense, concerning the production of military equipment and weapons in Ukraine, and for our energy, for the repair and construction of a new and more modern energy system", the Ukrainian president said.

Volodymyr Zelensky also said he expects part of the funds to be spent on educational needs, reconstruction of houses and the supply of medical equipment. 

Russia launches air attack on several regions of Ukraine

Russia launched a missile and drone attack on six regions of Ukraine early Wednesday, causing an industrial site to catch fire and damaging residential buildings and leaving several injured, according to local authorities.
The Ukrainian army said it shot down five of the six missiles and all 24 drones fired overnight by Russia.

Ukrainian defense systems destroyed all air weapons approaching Kyiv, Serhiy Popko, head of the military administration of the Ukrainian capital, said on the Telegram application.

The debris, however, damaged an industrial facility in the Kyiv region and caused a fire, the region's governor said.
The attack injured a resident and damaged a private residence, a garage, a gas station and a storage site, he added.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the attack left three people injured and damaged nine private residences, the local governor said, adding that the Ukrainian army had shot down 11 drones above the region.

Warning sirens sounded for several hours throughout Ukraine, including in regions bordering NATO member Poland. Polish and allied planes were activated as a precaution, the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces said on Platform X. This is regularly the case when Russia launches an air attack on the western regions of the ;Ukraine.

Russian missile attack kills 8 in Kryvyi Rih

A Russian ballistic missile attack hit the Ukrainian town of Kryvyi Rih on Wednesday, killing at least 8 people and injuring 21 others, including two children, Ukrainian officials said, while 4 people remain missing.

The attack, the deadliest in recent weeks, hit an administrative building and apartments, the Ukrainian military command said on Telegram.

“Every day, every hour, Russian terror proves that Ukraine, together with its partners, should strengthen its air defense,”, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted, commenting on the attack on Kryvyi Rih, his hometown.

A video, shared by the Ukrainian president, shows a man being pulled out of the rubble on a stretcher as firefighters battle the flames and rescuers work in the ruins of concrete.

Volodymyr Zelensky discusses Ukraine summit with Saudi Crown Prince 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he discussed preparations for the summit on Ukraine scheduled for this week in Switzerland with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, during which he hopes to garner support.< /p>

Mr Zelensky's plane landed in the Red Sea coastal city of Jeddah, where he was greeted by Saudi officials, including the national security adviser and the # 39;ambassador in Kiev, said the official Saudi press agency SPA. His visit had not been announced in advance.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry published photos on X of Mr. Zelensky meeting Mohammed bin Salman, de facto ruler of the kingdom, without specifying the content of their discussions.

But Mr. Zelensky claimed on X to have discussed with the crown prince "preparations for the first world peace summit, its expected results and their possible implementation, as well as ways to bring Ukraine closer to true peace".

A heavyweight in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia seeks to remain neutral in the war between Ukraine and Russia.

The kingdom, the world's top crude exporter, works closely with Moscow on oil policy and touts its ties with Moscow and kyiv since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, positioning himself as a possible mediator.

In recent weeks, Mr. Zelensky has visited numerous countries to gain support and participation in the peace summit in Switzerland.

He visited not only his traditional allies in the European Union, but also countries in the Middle East and Asia that have closer relations with Russia. Earlier this month, the Ukrainian leader visited Singapore, the Philippines and Qatar.

Representatives from around 90 countries are expected to meet in Switzerland to discuss kyiv's plan to end the war.

The summit will take place as Russia has made some progress on the battlefield in eastern Ukraine, with Kiev's forces facing a shortage of weapons. #39;men and ammunition.
