Erdogan's proposal

Turkey is ready to host a peace summit to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday, after a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volidimir Zelenksy in Istanbul.

The two leaders discussed the subjects of the grain agreement and navigation security in the Black Sea, as well as the details of the war, said Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the occasion of ;a joint press conference.

"Today we discussed the developments of the war in detail, I shared my observations in all sincerity&quot ;, declared the Turkish president. A member of NATO, Turkey defends Ukrainian territorial integrity while continuing to maintain cordial relations with Russia and it is under its aegis that Ukraine an agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain was negotiated.

"We are doing everything possible to bring the war to an end on the basis of negotiations. We are ready to host a peace summit in which Russia will also participate”, added Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Volodimir Zelenksy announced that Russia will not be invited to the first peace summit to be held in Switzerland by the summer.

The Ukrainian president specified that Russian representatives could be invited after the summit in Switzerland which should produce a road map for peace, following discussions between Ukraine and its allies . "

We don't see how we can invite people who block, destroy and kill everyone. We want results, a just peace", said Volodimir Zelensky. Ankara has already arranged peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow in 2022 but has since complained about the lack of diplomatic progress, calling for a necessary summit between Vladimir Putin and Volodimir Zelensky.

During his trip to Turkey, the Ukrainian president visited a shipyard near Istanbul where two ships intended for the Ukrainian navy are under construction. Volodimir Zelensky then declared that he had discussed with his Turkish counterpart the joint production of weapons and ammunition. "Today we reached agreements on joint defense projects, both at the government level and between companies", he wrote on X.

Gabriel Attal still believes in Europe
