This Sunday, December 7, the war between Israel and Hamas entered its fourth month. Antony Blinken, visiting Amman, Jordan, on Sunday, continues his diplomatic tour in search of de-escalation.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Jordan's King Abdullah on Sunday that the United States opposes the forcible displacement of Palestinians as part of # a diplomatic tour devoted in part to the future of the Gaza Strip, devastated by the bombings of Israeli forces in retaliation for the deadly Hamas raid on October 7.
Since then, Israeli raids have transformed much of the Palestinian enclave into a field of ruins.

"I have a clear message for all our enemies: what happened on October 7 will never happen again", repeated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday. The day before, the Israeli army had announced that it had “completed the dismantling of Hamas' military structure in the North”.

During his meeting with the sovereign, Antony Blinken emphasized the United States' opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip and the need crucial to protect Palestinian civilians in the West Bank from extremist settler violence, State Department spokesperson said.

On Sunday, Israeli police killed a three-year-old Palestinian girl inside a car in the West Bank, opening fire on another vehicle suspected of ;attack, Israeli emergency services said.
King Abdullah says Washington has a major role to play in pressing Israel to agree to an immediate ceasefire and he has warned of “catastrophic repercussions” ;rsquo;a continuation of the conflict.

According to the health authorities in the Gaza Strip, controlled by Hamas, 22,835 Palestinians have died over the past three months in Israeli bombardments following the raids of October 7, which cost the lives of 1,200 Israelis. Antony Blinken began his fourth tour of the Middle East since the start of the war on Saturday to try to prevent a regional conflagration, following the death of Saleh al Arouri, Hamas leader killed by a drone attack attributed to Israel on Tuesday in the southern suburbs of Beirut, further heightened tensions.

Release of the hostages

After his stop in Jordan, the head of American diplomacy flew to Qatar where he was to meet with Emir Tamim ben Hamad al Thani and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al Thani.

In Doha, Antony Blinken should also provide an update on the ongoing efforts aimed at freeing the hundred Israeli hostages still in the hands of Hamas, after the release of several dozen between them at the end of November thanks to mediation from Qatar. In total, Hamas captured some 240 hostages during its October 7 attack.

The Secretary of States will then travel to the United Arab Emirates.

Washington wants Israel's neighboring Arab states to play a role in the reconstruction, governance and security of the Gaza Strip after the conflict.

Antony Blinken intends to collect their positions before presenting them to the Israeli government.
