This Thursday, January 11, around a hundred people gathered in front of the Hérault prefecture to denounce the lack of resources to deal with sexist and sexual violence. For many, the words of the Head of State towards the actor Gérard Depardieu prove his lack of consideration for the cause of his five-year term.

The rain did not get the better of the activists called this Thursday to protest against sexist and sexual violence in Montpellier. At the call of the city's feminist interorganization, several dozen people gathered in front of the Hérault prefecture. "We denounce again today these hunters who see us as their prey, who think we are at their disposal, who suppose that sex and violence are confused for their benefit and for their so-called needs" , explains an activist.

This national gathering, which follows the Depardieu affair and the words of the President of the Republic denouncing “a manhunt”, then takes place that the figures for feminicides have just been published by the Minister of Justice, “There are 94 sisters who died at the hands of a man last year. Certainly this is lower than in previous years, but we are far from the mark, protests a student.

Additional means

First demand from the demonstrators present this Thursday evening: substantial means to protect victims, raise public awareness and allow better monitoring of complaints of sexist and sexual violence.& ;nbsp;
