Season 2 of New School continues. Three new episodes of the telecrochet devoted to French rap have just been put online on Netflix on Wednesday May 24 and spectators rushed to the platform to discover the finalists of this second edition. But to qualify, the candidates of the program still had to pass the formidable test of the battles and shine during the next one, where they had to shoot and produce a clip in 48 hours.

It was then that the four remaining candidates are found associated with headliners of French rap and have to perform on stage featuring on one of their biggest hits. This has given rise to unlikely associations, such as Lpee with Soso Maness for Petrouchka, Coelho with Kalash Criminel for Arrêt du cœur or Yuz Boy with Kalash for Mwaka Moon. But the task was just as difficult for Dau, one of the program's rebels, who was associated with Naps on the Marseille rapper's hit Vamos. And it started very strong as soon as they met. “Do you like the basic sound?“, Naps asks. The candidate replies frankly: “I'm not going to lie to you, that's not what I listen to at all.“

Naps absolutely catastrophic at all levels

But that's nothing compared to when the two men perform on stage. Dau makes a sensational entrance. His text sticks perfectly to the instrumental, he delivers and sets fire to the room with crazy energy. A faultless one. Then comes the turn of Naps, whom we already saw very uncomfortable during the candidate's verse. And his performance will be quite simply catastrophic: he is out of breath, his voice goes off the rails (when he sings his text), the stage presence is almost non-existent. The verdict is final: Naps was eaten raw on his own track by Dau. What did not escape the spectators, who did not hesitate to make fun of him on Twitter.

This disastrous performance at least had the merit of highlighting Dau and qualify him directly for the grand final, during which he will try to pocket the famous and coveted 100k. But let's not forget that despite this flop, Naps remains one of the best French rap hitmakers of recent years and has accumulated hundreds of millions of plays on streaming platforms and continues to glean certifications.
