The renovation and extension project for the Marty Hall was unveiled by the City this Wednesday, February 14. He plans to transform the old sports establishment into a real cauldron for the Arago de Sète.

It's an ambitious project which was revealed to the public this Wednesday morning, at the Marty hall. The temple of Sète volleyball should in fact be transformed into a real “small arena” according to the mayor, François Commeinhes, who presented the renovation and extension project for the site. A 7.1 million euro project, entirely financed by the City, which will begin next June and end in December 2025.

A capacity of 1,600 places

All of the work was entrusted to the A+ architectural firm, which is responsible for the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier and the Palais des Congrès in Montpellier. ;Agde. The latter, represented by the architect Clément Raboudrin, explained that he wanted to increase the capacity to 1,600 seats, as many as the Théâtre de la Mer. "L' idea is that this space can also be used for cultural representations" explained the mayor in particular. In this perspective, particular attention will be paid to the sound system of the place, underlined the latter.

On the sports side, independent access for athletes has been provided from the current car park, which opens directly onto the changing rooms. The public will enter from rue des Gerfauts to the southwest of the site, via a secure forecourt. It will access the upper floor where an ambulatory will serve all of the stands, the capacity of which has been doubled. Please note: a partner space with around a hundred seats will be located on the second level with a refreshment bar. Refreshment bars will also be installed at each corner of the building. Finally, always in a desire to meet high-level requirements, the dimensions of the sports field have been increased to correspond to the measures necessary for approval.

An audience ever closer to athletes and the action for a cauldron atmosphere

"We wanted a festive and joyful place, with an audience ever closer to the athletes and the action for a cauldron atmosphere" declared the mayor for whom this project is fully integrated into a policy of developing sport for all, "from children to high-level sport".&nbsp ;Always in this spirit of conviviality, a 300 square meter terrace protected by an awning has been planned to accommodate the front and the # 39;s after match. For their training, the Arago volleyball players will now have to go to the Lido and Clavel halls. Discussions are underway with the municipalities of Castelnau-le-Lez, Agde and Béziers to host the matches of the Sète team during the duration of the work.
