Interest in renowned free agent Xander Bogaerts is skyrocketing and several teams are looking for the one who played for a long time with the Boston Red Sox.

The Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks are keeping a close eye on the Bogaerts case, according to ESPN. Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy, however, said Wednesday that his club wants to re-hire Bogaerts for the 2023 season.

“We are still in contact with his agent Scott Boras and even he is a very busy man, conversations continue with him,” he told MassLive.

Kennedy also denied rumors circulating that Bogaerts closed the door on a potential back with the Red Sox. The star player began his major league baseball career in Boston in 2013.

“I don't feel like he wants to leave the team. All we can do is show him our desire to continue with him for the next season. There are several formations interested in him and we understand this aspect. We maintained good communication with him throughout the campaign and the offseason knowing his status as a free agent.”

The 30-year-old athlete hit 15 home runs in 150 games in the 2022 season and earned his fifth career Silver Stick.
