Depuis plusieurs années maintenant, le shopping en ligne est devenu monnaie courante sur les réseaux sociaux. Pourtant si cette habitude persiste, 63% des acheteurs regrettent leur dépense, selon une étude.

Social media has made it much easier to shop without even leaving your couch. A situation that nevertheless leads a large majority to regret some of their purchases.

More than half

According to the latest online survey by the WalletHub platform, relayed by Social Media Today, conducted among more than 200 Americans in June 2024, 63% have already regretted an expense made on social media. Up to 74% of respondents even admit to having bought something they didn't need.

While shopping on TikTok is a more widespread practice among Millennials than among Generation Z adults, this mode of consumption remains popular. According to a GlobalData survey, more than four in ten Gen Z and Millennial consumers have made a purchase via Pinterest Shopping at least once a month.

While 20% of respondents considered their purchase to be "great", 22% considered it useless. 40% of buyers felt they had no unpleasant surprises while 18% reported scams.

Consumers also mostly denounced the negative aspects of shopping on the platforms. For 67%, social networks encourage overconsumption.
