This Thursday morning, the bells of Millau will ring for ten minutes. This will be to commemorate the Liberation of Millau on August 22, 1944 and celebrate its 80th anniversary. It will begin at 8:45 a.m.
Other festivities are planned throughout the day to celebrate this historic moment. "Guided tours focused on the Liberation will be provided from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., explains the City of Millau. Visits around the commemorative monuments of the Parc de la Victoire and the Equality Cemetery. They are provided by Stéphanie Monsarrat, heritage mediator." (Reservations at 05 65 59 50 35).
A ceremony at the Parc de la Victoire
At 5:30 p.m., the vintage cars of the Sava association will be presented at the Parc de la Victoire. "Presence of Jeep and other Tractions, emblematic cars witnesses and sometimes actresses of this page of history", presents the City.
The official commemoration ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at the Resistance stele in the Parc de la Victoire, in the presence of political and military authorities and veterans.
