William Stanback ready to help the Alouettes

The Montreal Alouettes had a nice surprise at practice Thursday morning, as running back William Stanback practiced with the team after having his name removed from the injured list.

The 28-year-old American was injured in the first game of the season, June 9, after making just three carries for 11 yards. He had to have surgery on an ankle and put on his shoulder pads for the first time on September 27.

Stanback has been an important part of the Montreal attack for several seasons. In 2019, he made 170 carries for 1,048 yards and five touchdowns, and he continued in 2021 with 193 rushes for 1,176 yards.

The Alouettes' next game is Monday against the Rouge and Ottawa Black, at Percival-Molson Stadium.
