Quatre médailles ont été remises lors de la cérémonie des vœux, jeudi 11 janvier 2024, par les élus de la Ville de Millau.

More than a simple political speech by the mayor of Millau, Emmanuelle Gazel, the greeting ceremony organized in the village hall was an opportunity to honor personalities or associations dynamics of the city.

First of all, a medal was given to Abdelkader Dagdag. It is all the solidarity work of the Millavois which was highlighted on stage by Sylvie Martin-Dumazer who presented him with the medal. Indeed, he is the president of Entraide Millavoise and his generosity has been highlighted. He could not hold back his tears during his acceptance speech, resolutely focused on the volunteers who make the association work. 

William Maury for the Sisters

William Maury, father of the Sisters, a successful comic strip, also took the stage in the village hall, with his daughters, heroines of his works. The success of the Millavois boards has gone well beyond Aveyron and the copies sell better than a fouace on a Friday morning on the Millau market.

On the sports side, Paul Gioia, president of SOM handball, was rewarded. Maguelone Guibert, elected to Sport Santé, highlighted the club's latest federal awards, such as its baby-hand section, “among the ten best in France”, according to the elected official. The Millavois club has formed a partnership with Montpellier, the largest club in France. 

A medal of honor for the Templar Festival

Finally, a medal that was not planned, that of honor. It was presented by Emmanuelle Gazel, mayor of Millau, to Gilles Bertrand and Odile Baudrier, both creators and directors of the Festival des Templiers. This year, the trail festival, a pioneer in France, will celebrate its 30th anniversary and the councilor thanked the organizers in public for the work accomplished since 1995, when the event was created. .
