With Jemanîmes, the craftsmen and artists of Nîmes share their know-how

"The goal of the Art Craft Days is to show how we work, to share our know-how", explains Ghylaine Ragheboom, from the association Jemanîmes who brings the event to Nîmes, bringing together both craftsmen and artists. Activities, workshops, meetings, demonstrations are on the program from Wednesday 3 to Sunday 7 April, with around fifty participants.

This year, the theme of the weekend, whose poster was designed by Véronique Erbetta following a competition, will be "On the tips of your fingers". Around thirty creators will present pieces during a group exhibition at L’Appart à part (53 rue Notre-Dame). The work of around fifty artisans and creators will be discovered during a tour through the city.

"A real dynamic"

Mosaic, cutlery, tapestry, ceramics, furniture restoration, binding, textile… Some have workshops allowing the public to be welcomed. Others exhibit with friends or at the Maison de la region, which will be exceptionally open on Sundays. "Painters and photographers do not always have open workshops, we gathered them on the first floor of the Napoléon, with a few craftsmen", continues Guylaine Ragheboom. The exhibition will last all weekend, until the aperitif and the lottery drawing on Sunday evening.

Through this event, Jemanîmes wishes to give visibility to professions that are often little-known. So for the opening, Lydia Bouziane, from the Angélique association and the Maison des métiers d’art d’Uzès, will present a conference. For a dozen years, she has worked to support creators. "There is a real dynamic. The goal is to allow everyone to make a living from their activity. This represents 280 activities, she recalls. The sector is booming and Occitanie is the fourth French region for professions in France. art."
