Les animaux défileront sur le grand ring le 28 février pour participer au grand concours. Dont Océanie accompagnée de Volcan, tout droit venue de Recoules-d’Aubrac. Présentation.

Among the Trigosse, the Aubrac breed is a serious and above all family affair. Philippe and Isabelle are at the head of a beautiful 150 hectare farm, with 80 mothers, located in Recoule d’Aubrac, locality of Escudières, an area dedicated to the breeding of this breed.

A lot of work in the meadows and at home with six children, three girls and three boys aged from 4 to 20 years old. Including André, 19, who, with a professional baccalaureate in his pocket, is about to settle down. First in the family Gaec: "I left to work elsewhere to perfect my knowledge, but I want to continue this profession here because I was born into this Aubrac breed", said the passionate young man. That a life of toil does not impress. "Without a day of vacation", confirm without further regret, the parents.

6 years old and 830 kg on the scale

The family knows that they can also count on the support of the other children and in particular of Lisa, 17 years old, in 1st year at the agricultural high school of Marvejols who should follow in the family path. "I just hope that one of my children will become an animal dealer, the profession for which I was destined", underlines Philippe, nostalgic, before life ends. decides otherwise.

But what concerns the Trigosse family is preparing one of the participants in the major Aubrac breed competition at the International Agricultural Show in Paris. Oceania, 6 years old and 830 kg on the scale "because she lost a little weight", smiles Isabelle. Stress probably.

The selection of animals representing the breed for the general competition took place on November 29 in Laguiole. Océanie was elected as holder in the young cow category among 55 animals presented. Sixteen animals were selected to compete in the capital. Oceania will find two other Lozériens, notably: Lebroune, from Gaec Solignac de Boujoux (Saint-Laurent-de-Muret), in the old cow category and Owen, from Gaec Batifol (Le Buisson), in the old and well-aged bull category. ;rsquo;others from Aveyron and Cantal.

Accustoming Oceania and Volcano to noise and the world

Océanie is part of a line of champions: from her ancestor Narbonne, the first acquired by the Trigosse. Then the grandmother La Satinée and her mother Éclipse… "This is a lineage which very well represents the breed adapted to this Aubrac plateau. For us, participating in the competition is a great source of pride to raise awareness of the breed, our terroir, our territory in Paris", assures Philippe.

The Trigosse family pampers Oceania, gray in color, always accompanied by her little Volcano who is more wheat colored and who will accompany her mother to Paris. Every day, they accustom the champion and her little one to the noise, to the world… a foretaste of a difficult Salon for "a beast that remains unpredictable". And who hopes to return to Recoules-d’Aubrac crowned with a beautiful medal that would make a family of breeders proud who works tirelessly…

The Aubrac breed will compete in the big ring on Wednesday February 28, early in the afternoon. I subscribe to read more
