The hunting season has not yet started in Vendée and already, an accident has been reported. A fifty-year-old woman was hit by a lead shot while she was at home on Sunday, reports Ouest-France.
A lead shot in the forehead
“She received a lead shot in the forehead”, the gendarmerie explained to our colleagues. While she was on her property in La Chauvelière, in the commune of Bessay, the victim, aged 57, was hit by a stray bullet from a hunting weapon.
More precisely, a lead. small balls loaded into cartridges. This is the most popular ammunition for hunting in France, even if the regulations are changing and aim to reduce or even prohibit their use in certain areas, particularly humid ones.
Slightly injured
The fifty-year-old went to the emergency room of the Luçon hospital by his own means. Slightly injured by the impact of the lead on her forehead, she was able to receive treatment without suffering any complications.
“The shooter has not yet been apprehended”, indicate the military. Officially in Vendée, the hunting season will open on the 15th ;september. However, some species can already be collected, such as wild boar.
The French Office for Biodiversity reported that< strong> 78 hunting accidents occurred during the 2022-2023 season.
