Work in progress to make stations the tourist gateways to Aubrac

Le Parc naturel régional de l’Aubrac a réuni en Lozère élus, techniciens et professionnels du tourisme pour plancher sur un projet de revitalisation des gares.

"Our stations must be welcoming and pleasant, like our beautiful departments. And they must also offer the services that people passing through today expect, it’s essential", explains Michèle Castan, elected official of the Aubrac Regional Natural Park, in charge of mobility. Recently, in Monastier, around thirty elected officials, technicians and tourism professionals brought together by the Aubrac Regional Natural Park worked very concretely on a project to upgrade the Aubrac stations, entitled LocO& ;rsquo;brac.

"This work began during the winter", says Mylène Gras, responsible for tourism at the Park. "Accompanied by the Regional Energy and Climate Agency, we brought together the six communities of communes crossed by the Paris-Béziers railway line, which is called the Aubrac line, as well as all institutional, tourist, professional and associative partners concerned by the subject. We started by taking stock of the mobility and tourist offers from the stations. Then, a consultation workshop to define user needs", she continues.

From the 2025 season

Then, during the seminar, eight working groups built solutions. Lionel Bouniol, the mayor of Bourgs-sur-Colagne, appreciated this work. "We really designed very concrete projects. For example, how to facilitate the mobility of visitors between train stations and town centers ? By encouraging bicycle rental, car sharing, by offering lockers to store luggage, a pick-up point? rsquo;information, a shelter to wait for a bus or taxi, a mobile and bicycle charging point…"

The continuation of this work provides for an analysis of the feasibility of the projects that have been designed, then a steering committee will decide in the fall which ones will be tested during the 2025 tourist season. &quot ;We want operational projects quickly", specifies Marc Guibert, vice-president of the Park. "A considerable number of travelers already use this SNCF line. We want to make them want to stop off and even discover Aubrac from its stations! And we are thinking of the inhabitants too, more services in the stations, it will also be more attractive for our territory."
