Au moins 46 personnes se sont noyées lors d’un festival religieux en Inde entre ce mardi 23 et ce mercredi 24 avril 2024.

At least 46 people, including 37 children, have drowned in the eastern Indian state of Bihar while bathing during a Hindu religious festival, local authorities told AFP on Thursday.

They “ignored”the dangerously high level” water

The victims died while bathing in rivers or bodies of water swollen by floods in the region, a local disaster management official said.

“These people ignored the dangerously high water levels in rivers and bodies of water when they took a dip to celebrate the festival,”, the official said, requesting anonymity.

The drownings took place in 15 districts of Bihar on Tuesday and Wednesday to mark the Hindu festival of Jitiya Parv, when mothers fast to ensure the well-being of their children.
