Years and dynamics follow one another at the Pour le canal de Lunel association

Avec un nombre d’adhérents en hausse, une foule d’actions menées à bien, de nouveaux projets et des annonces de la municipalité qui étaient espérées, l’association lunelloise entame 2024 avec le sourire.
It’s an association that exudes good humor and good understanding. This is evidenced by the number of members, 200, still increasing, the iron financial health, and the copiously filled rows, this Wednesday, March 13 during the annual general meeting that the association For the Lunel canal held in the Trophy Room. A success shared by three municipal elected officials, Michel Créchet, Corinne Poleri and Catherine Morel who were also present at this meeting.
Stocks galore in 2023
Based on a video montage produced by Gil Gréa, the evening first allowed President Frédérique Domergue and Vice-President Anne-Marie Lefebvre to provide an exhaustive overview of the actions carried out last year. ;last year. There were many: tribute to Joël Moysan, magnet fishing day, 20th anniversary at Caladons, day of Jean Hugo's path notebooks or even a stroll along the water and conference by Patricia Carlier on the cabins. We inevitably pass by.
Where it comes to hedges
The general assembly also gave Frédérique Domergue the opportunity to convey several messages. The president thus welcomed the action undertaken by Symbo with the financial support of the Vinci Foundation for the Environment on the right bank of the canal. Symbo has planted nearly 1 km of hedges. « Good news to help self-purify water », explained the president. For its part, the association announced its intention« to in turn request the Vinci Foundation to continue to develop the banks of the canal with the installation of flora, fauna and history panels ». The president also recalled the association’s request for a hedge to be planted in order to obscure the view of the wastewater treatment plant. A demand that should be satisfied both inside and outside the equipment.
Restore the flora and fauna exhibition
The association also revealed its numerous projects for 2024. For example, it intends to restore, by the summer, the fauna and flora photographic exhibition installed on the left bank of the canal and several times vandalized. She is also planning a concert at the Espace Feuillade and will also launch, this year, a Provençal cooking workshop thanks to the experience of one of her members, a former restaurateur.
This activity could lead to the publication of a small recipe book which will be linked to the new conference that Patricia Carlier will hold in November with the theme of gastronomy on the banks of the canal.
Good news from the municipality
In April and October, the association will also offer a stroll along the water « on foot, by bike or by boat »and, during this year, canal cleaning appointments will also be scheduled. But the Pour le canal de Lunel association also received good news from the municipality. Michel Créchet assured that the work aimed at securing the supply of raw water to BRL's cabins would be completed by summer.
The development of the Hournède still relevant
He also confirmed that the city has not abandoned its project to develop the Manade de l’Hournède. On the contrary, since a study has just been returned to him on this subject. « It is in particular the landscape, tourist and educational aspects that could see the light of day most quickly. Negotiations are underway with Lunel Agglo », announced the elected official.
For the renovation part of the building, more financially important, « things are more complicated », recognized Michel Créchet. On the other hand, the latter was rather optimistic about the possibility that a footbridge would see the light of day on the Dardaillon as part of the Hournède project.
