This is what people write to me more and more often following chronicles that one would like to be “encouraging”, “on the bright side of life”, chronicles in which I try to describe the terrible decline of democracy in the world. Starting with our Western countries.

This suicidal denial of a large part of our populations, if it can be explained, can only make us slide even more inexorably towards decadence in which no one will escape.

I am, I confess, dismayed to receive comments from French-born readers, Tremblay, Blanchet, Gagnon, who take up the cause of Putin, the tyrant trying to destroy Ukraine.

Others have just discovered a new hero, Viktor Orban, the Hungarian Prime Minister, leader of the new fascists. Last July, he said, “We don't want to be a mixed race,” mixing “with non-Europeans.”
